Colin has had extensive experience in coatings, firstly as production manager of a leading paint company for 13 years and during this time supervising the laboratory and formulating numerous coatings for all types of markets including architectural, trade, lithograph inks, marine pleasure craft, deep sea marine, packaging, automotive, general industrial and heavy duty protective coatings.
He then specialised in automotive sales and was responsible for establishing a powder coating market for this relatively new industry and was given the title of Technical Service Manager to handle all coatings’ complaints. During this time, Colin managed electrophoretic deposition primers, paint trials for new automotive technology and new colours which involved the setting up of automatic reciprocating conventional spray machines and oscillating & reciprocating electrostatic high speed bells.
After 28 years of service, he then spent the next eleven years with a corrosion engineering company where he was involved in litigation cases, new coatings inspection and also coatings / corrosion condition surveys as team supervisor, specialising in bauxite and oil refineries, offshore facilities, bridges and the Collins Class Submarines. Colin also assisted in the successful development and introduction of a comprehensive surveying software program.
